She was predeceased by : her parents, John Arends and Ruby Arends (Nelson); her parents-in-law, Peter and Frances Peterson; her siblings-in-law, Paul Peterson and Marilyn Gunnarson (Peterson); and her great-nephew Jackson Abernathy.

She is survived by : her husband Gale Peterson of Granite Falls, MN; her children, Jill Grove (Steve) of Willmar, MN, Susan Bones (Chad) of Granite Falls, MN and Eric Peterson (Amy) of Granite Falls, MN; her grandchildren, Alexander Grove (Lydia), Austin Grove, Jacob, James Peterson, Ruby and Abigale Bones; her great grandchildren, Landry, Lincoln and Londyn Grove; her siblings, John "Smokey" Arends (Audrey) of Clara City, Judy Rockwell (David) of Beaufort, SC and Julie Williams (Jeff) of Granite Falls; her in-laws, Ben Gunnarson, Orlo, Cheryl Austin and Darlene Peterson Haushchild; and her nephew Gregory Gunnarson. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
