Hazel Carter Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Hazel Carter of Granite Falls, Minnesota, born in Sacred Heart, Minnesota, who passed away on July 15, 2023, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Emil Knutson and Arlene Knutson (Steinbach); her stepfather Orville Imes; her daughter Faye; her grandson Bradley VanOverbeke; her siblings, Joyce Andes and Elmer Knutson; and her brother-in-law Ken Carter.

She is survived by : her former life partner Woodrow "Butch" West, Jr.; her husband Dr. Darrell Carter of Granite Falls; her daughters, Sheila VanOverbeke (Jeff) of Granite Falls and Dawn Leigh (Steve) of Janesville; her grandsons, Chad VanOverbeke (Taylor), Patrick Leigh and Ryan Leigh; her great grandchildren, Myracle "Jesse" VanOverbeke, Brailee VanOverbeke and Thomas VanOverbeke; her siblings, Elaine Burns (Gale), John Knutson (Michelle) and Owen Imes (Heather Johnsrud); and her siblings-in-law, Bill Andes, Terrie Knutson and Lori Carter. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are respectfully requested to the organizations Hazel supported; Granite Falls Area Community Foundation, Pioneer PBS and the Granite Falls Ambulance.
