He was predeceased by: his parents, Nicholas Girgen and Anna Girgen (Kieffer); and his siblings, Sylvester Girgen, Lucille Neuman, Mildred Langenfeld, Irene Miller, Bernice Olson, Mary Schiller and Betty Lencowski.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth M. Demuth; his children, Jeanne Mamer (Ron), Lawrence Girgen, Ron Girgen (Sue) and Brenda Frandrup (Ed); and his sisters, Florence Banazewski, Lenora Banazewski and Donna Mae Johnson. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren.
