He was predeceased by: his parents, Timothy Houlihan and Helen Houlihan (Gutzmer); his siblings, Dorothy, Doug, Hope and Eddie; his daughter Karen Coughlin; and his granddaughter Katie Coughlin.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Ballard; his children, Patricia Hardy, Linda Sommers (Robert) and Michael Houlihan (Jackie); his grandchildren, Shelly Szurek (Dick), Rick Sommers (Maggie), Kris Weber, Michael Schackel (Melissa), Joe Sommers (Wendy), Leah Cunningham (Dan), Jennie Houlihan and Lisa Houlihan (Matthew Gaffney); his great grandchildren, Jamie (Matt), Jake (Jilian), Lawrence (Dominika), Matthew, Jaylynn (Brandon), Josh, Noah, Sophia, Luke and Serenity; and his great great grandchildren, Kaelyn and Dilynn. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
