He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Whittington and Evelyn Whittington (Mogen); and his parents-in-law, Roger and Berniece Braaten. He is survived by: his wife Debra Whittington; his children, Kristie Augustin (Jason) and Dustin Whittington (Briana); and his grandchildren, Ashley Augustin (Rafe), Emily Augustin, Addison Augustin, Izola Whittington and Helena Whittington. He is also survived by many loving members of the Braaten family, extended family, and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (104 1st St SE, Hayfield, MN 55940).
