She was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, Hulda Witte and Herbert Witte; her husband Warren Piehl; her close friend Herb Nelson (Swedish); her children, Katie Piehl (Rich Knowlton) and Brad Piehl (Jessie Wald); her grandchildren, Austin, Ian Knowlton, Sam, Tessa and Jenna Piehl; her siblings, Eileen Raforth (John) and Harold Witte (Joan); and her sisters-in-law, Fran Piehl, Audrey Wolff and Ann Goerke (Lloyd). She was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Lutheran Partners in Global Ministry (LPGM), St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Olivia Hospital & Clinic Hospice, or Hector Public Library.
