He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Thompson and Agnes Thompson (Willert); his son Donald Smith; his siblings, Donald Thompson and Judith Grell; and his close friend Robyn Lemmer.
He is survived by: his son Jake Thompson (Jena) of Burnsville; his daughter-in-law Steph; his grandchildren, Gavin, Layla and Ryder Smith; his brothers, Richard Thompson (Deborah) of Rush City and Phillip Thompson (Cindy) of Rush City; and his siblings-in-law, Gary Grell of Cambridge and Sue Thompson of Chaska.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 7th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Rock Creek City Center (7080 MN-70, Pine City, MN 55063).
