With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Ellen Mathieu in Hermantown, Minnesota, born in Belle Plaine, Iowa, who passed away on May 8, 2025 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her significant other Ron; her parents, James Vest and Margie Vest; her in-laws, John and Gladys Mathieu; her brothers, James Vest Jr. and Charles Vest; her siblings-in-law, Phoebe, Virginia, Bev, Janice, Bob Gronseth and Bob Cooper; and her nieces, Diana Vest Kishel and Jamie Putnam.

She is survived by: her son Ryan (Ann); her grandchildren, Talen and Brynley Mathieu; her siblings, Ed Vest (Carolyn), Tom Vest and Dorothy Goldspring; and her close friend Sally Brown.
