Dean Schumacher Obituary

The passing of Dean Schumacher of Heron Lake, Minnesota leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on July 8, 2025 at the age of 85. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents-in-law, Floyd and Alice Horkey; and his siblings-in-law, Richard Horkey and Earlene Horkey. He is survived by: his wife Judy Schumacher of Heron Lake; his son Trent Schumacher (Kimberly) of Heron Lake; his grandson Zachary Schumacher (Logan); his great grandchildren, Beau and Blake; his granddaughter Hailey Schumacher; his son Adam Schumacher (Christine) of Heron Lake; his grandson Stuart Schumacher (Meghan); his great grandchildren, Ruby-Mae and Bruhn; his grandchildren, Garrett Schumacher, Wyatt Schumacher (Taylor), Madelyn Schumacher and Addison Schumacher; his children, Carmen Mertens (David) of Milford, IA and Tate Mertens; his brother Leon Schumacher (Margaret) of Ely; and his siblings-in-law, Gary Horkey (Rita) of New Prague and Vicky Horkey of Windom. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Sunday, July 13th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday, July 14th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Evangelical Lutheran Church (2280 6th Ave, Windom, MN 56101). A celebration of life was held on Monday, July 14th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Evangelical Lutheran Church (231 11th St, Heron Lake, MN 56137).

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
