He was predeceased by: his father Bill Balfanz; his uncle Roger Trapp; his aunts, Lois Balfanz, Marilyn Griffith and Mae DeNucci; and his cousins, Patty Haselden and Linda Wright.

He is survived by: his wife Sherrie; his mother Patricia Balfanz; his stepson William S Anderson; his siblings, Karen Janus (Jeff) and Steve Balfanz; his aunt Ruby Trapp; and his uncle Edward Balfanz.
