He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay Melvern Bates and LaNeda Rosella Bates (Berg); and his wife Martha. He is survived by: his sons, David (Amie), Chris (LeeAnn) and JT (Jennifer); and his siblings, Bob (Joyce) and Judy. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
