He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Kern and Helen Kern (Mons); his sister Shari Peterson; his niece Cindy Kasel (David); his nephew Steve Buelow; and his brother-in-law Donald Buelow.
He is survived by: his sister Darlene Buelow of Bloomington, MN; and his nieces and nephews, Sue Knight (Brent), Dori Burks (Phil), Jodi Stark (Duane), Cathy Buelow, Jeff Buelow and Trav Petersen (Michelle). He is also survived by Many great nieces, nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and family.
A memorial gathering was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Peace Lutheran Church (400 Franklin St SW, Hutchinson, MN 55350). A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
He and his friend would then donate the stuffed animals to children in the hospital, turning something that brought him joy into a special gift for others.
