He is survived by: his wife Jean Nies of Hutchinson, MN; his children, Christopher Nies of Grand Marias, MN, Pamela O'Brien (Thomas) of Columbia, MO, Charles Nies (Emily) of Merced, CA and Jeffrey Nies (Michelle) of Hutchinson, MN; his grandchildren, Roxy Pridgen, Nicholas Mix (Jamie Risner), True Nies, Solstice Nies, Drew O'Brien, Daniel O'Brien, Abbie O'Brien, Alex Nies, Thomas Nies, Julia Nies and Renee Nies; his great grandchildren, Braelynn Pridgen and Miles Pridgen; his brothers, Fred Haffley (Diana) of Hutchinson, MN, Robert Haffley (Nita) of Richmond, MN, Ralph Haffley of Lexington, KY and Steve Haffley (Terri) of Greenville, WI; and his siblings-in-law, Nancy Nies of Osceola, WI. and Ronald Silbernick (Many) of Richmond, MN.
