Gerald Carl Michels Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerald Carl Michels (New Richmond, WI), born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, who passed away on February 16, 2021, at the age of 81 at White Pine Memory Care. Gerald was born the son of Elsie and Arthur Michels on February 27, 1939 in Eau Claire, WI. He grew up in Western Wisconsin, graduating from Amery High School with the class of 1957.
Gerald was married to Anneliese Stockl on July 22, 1961 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Star Prairie, WI. He entered the Army on June 9, 1958. Gerald was stationed in Warner Kaserne, Germany for his tour of duty.
Gerald worked for 3-M and retired after 38 years of service. Jerry joined the Somerset American Legion Post 111. He was the Service Officer until his dementia became to severe.
Jerry love to hunt and was an avid historian of WWI and WWII. He preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Smola and Richard Smola. Gerald is survived by his wife, Anneliese Michels; daughter, Manuela Fox (Mervyn Fox); grandchildren, Travis G. Fox (Katherine), Tammy A. Pemberton (Robert James), Matthew S. Fox (Shannon); great grandchildren, Paige Klein (Nicholas), Alexander, Mariah, Kaiya, Mason, Madison, Blake, Aries, Micah, Baily, Shaylyn and Mikayla; one great-great grandchild due August 30, 2021. ; many releatives and friends.
Cremation Services provided by Cremation Society of Minnesota. Internment will be on June 7th, 2021 at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner WI. With Military honors at 11:00 am.
No visitation will be held.
