He was predeceased by : his parents, Paul Balzer and Mary Balzer (Paluch); his wife Gail; his aunts, Arleen and Aileen; and his uncle Gene.

He is survived by : his daughter Jennifer; his granddaughters, Samantha and Kiersten (Mike); his great grandchildren, Kayzleigh, Jace and Caden; his sister Pat (Paul); and his nieces and nephews, Michael (Jill), Jessica (Brody), Steven (Andrea) and Rebecca. He is also survived by many family members and close friends.

Even as a 100% disabled veteran, Ed dedicated several years donating his time to the VFW in Ivanhoe, continuing service to his country.

“In loving memory of Edward Balzer, I am SO very sad to hear of Eddie's passing. Eddie has been a good friend over all our years from 1st grade to now. What a lovely couple he and Gail were over their long marriage. Pat, every time I would make a trip to Ivanhoe, we would have a beer at " the local".I would always ask " how is Pat". I could tell how proud Eddie was of you! Thanks Pat for being my drum mate back at Ivanhoe High.”
