He is survived by: his wife Ellen of Kenyon; his children, Thomas Aakre (Sara Nikouee), James Aakre (Alice McGlave), Christopher Aakre, Susan Ross (Burke) and Heidi Aakre; his grandchildren, Nora, Zoe, Sydney, Olivia, Tanner, Dakota, Griffin, Blake and Melrose; his great grandchild Wynter; and his siblings, Lester, Vivian and Doris.

Memorials may be directed at the Holden Lutheran Church.
