He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Waataja and Jennie Waataja (Jacobson); his spouse Shirley Karie; and his siblings, Evert, Ernest, Donald, Ralph, Kenny, Gerald, Carl and Elaine Luoma.
He is survived by: his children, Lori Waataja (Rolf Hogan), Jeffrey and John Waataja; his grandchildren, Michael Waataja (MacKenzie) and Emily Faber (Nick); his great grandchildren, Lola and Mikko Waataja; his sisters, Jean Nordstrom, Marie Gertgen (LeRoy) and Carolyn Waataja; and his sisters-in-law, Joyce, Shirley, Jackie and Jane Waataja. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
