He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Paulson and Lillian Paulson (Bogart); his daughter Sherri VanVleet; his grandson Tristen Paulson; his siblings, Richard Paulson, Kenny Paulson and Shirley Habisch; his half-brothers, Howard Salmela and Donald Salmela; and his siblings-in-law, Alfred Habisch and Linda Salmela.

He is survived by: his wife Nyla Paulson of Watkins; his children, Tammy Schmidt (Ray) of South Haven, Wayde (Jana) of St. Cloud, Brant (Sally) of Fargo, ND and Joshua (Nicole) of Waite Park; his son-in-law Steve VanVleet of St. Cloud; his siblings, Jeannette Shipp (Don), Donna Wiebel, June Johnson (Ted) and Terry Flatt (Paul); his half-brothers, Caleb Salmela, Robert Salmela (Kris) and Roger Salmela (Susan); and his sister-in-law Yvonne Paulson. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

His contributions to the community and the lives he touched will be deeply missed.
