He was predeceased by: his parents, Maynard Kuester and Margaretha Kuester (Draeger); his father-in-law Clarence Maidl; and his brother-in-law Dennis Shutt. He is survived by: his wife Dianne Kuester of Lafayette, MN; his daughter Ellen Anderson (Travis) of Winthrop, MN; his grandsons, Alex Berkner (Ally Pink) of Hutchinson, MN and Sam Berkner of Winthrop, MN; his siblings, Mary Lou Shutt of Webster, WI and Michael Kuester (Kathy) of Rapid City, SD; his siblings-in-law, Aimee Altmann (Randy "Butch") of Lafayette, MN, Bob Maidl (Linda) of Eagle River, AK, John Maidl (Becky) of Roseville, MN and Joe Maidl (Deb) of Lafayette, MN; and his mother-in-law Betty Maidl of Lafayette, MN. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

A funeral service was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Peace Lutheran Church (413 5th St W, Winthrop, MN 55396).
