He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Schauls and Laura Schauls (Feldmeier Welsh); and his brothers, Edward Welsh, Richard Welsh, Walter Welsh and John J. Schauls.
He is survived by: his sisters, Alice Leitzen (Ray), Roseann Shaw (Dave), Agnes Manhart, Mary Wunnecka, Annette Twite (LaVern) and Elayne Erdman; and his sister-in-law Arlene Welsh. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
