He was predeceased by : his parents, Archie Novotny and Pauline Novotny (Janicki); his sister Gloria (Novotny); and his brother-in-law Edmund Fuller. He is survived by : his wife Barbara Novotny (Menshek); his sons, Mark (Billie Kathryn Frogner), Michael (Laura Kadlac) and Matthew Novotny (Amy Kostel); his grandchildren, Andrew, Ryan, Thomas, Ethan (Rylie Novotny), Carley (Degneau), Alex Merrill and Jacob Degneau; and his great grandchild Andrew James "A. J." Merrill.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 30th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the St. Joseph of the Lakes Catholic Church (171 Elm St, Lino Lakes, MN 55014). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, April 30th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
