He was predeceased by : his parents, Emil Nelson and Electra Mae Nelson (Belcher); his siblings, Margie, Duwayne (Bernie) and Ronald (Bonnie); and his brother-in-law Marvin Bossart.

He is survived by : his wife Debbie Brown; his sons, Brad (Terri), Mike (Lisa) and Jeff (Sheri); his grandchildren, Hannah, Matthew, Emma, Claire, Alex, Erik, Jessica, Jordan and Josh; and his siblings-in-law, Betty Bossart and Gene Dick. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
