He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Frank, Anna Holey (Duban), Emil and Ludmilla Smisek (Sticha); and his nephew Zachary Theis.

He is survived by: his parents, Adeline Smisek (Holey) of Lonsdale and Marvin Smisek of New Prague; his siblings, Brenda Pederson (Clint), Connie Theis, Diane Dodds (David), Pamela Ramm (Tony), Mark and Chuck Smisek (Jolene); his aunts and uncles, Mel Smisek (Gail) and Mary Malecha (Larry); his great-uncle Raymond Holey; and his pet Socks. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
