It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mavis King of Luverne, Minnesota, born in Adrian, Minnesota, who passed away on March 18, 2023, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her husband Jud King; her parents, Minnie Lund (Roemeling) and Charles Lund; her sisters, Joyce Benson and Charlotte Heitkamp; her brothers-in-law, Don Heitkamp, Brad Benson and Lawrence Kloster; her great-niece Alecia Heitkamp; and her aunt Angeline Reisdorfer.

She is survived by : her sister Mary Kloster of Otsego, MN; her nieces and nephews, Anne LeBrun (Jim) of Luverne, MN, Bret Heitkamp (Gina) of Champlin, MN, Kyle Heitkamp (Eileen) of Excelsior, MN, Kimberly Lieberherr (Craig) of Maple Grove, MN, Karen Julian (Shawn) of Hudson, WI and Kent Kloster of Delano, MN; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Tyler LeBrun (Anna), Alex LeBrun (Shay), Brandon LeBrun (Kaylee), Kalyn Auth (Kevin), Stephanie Heitkamp (Mitch), Scott Heitkamp (Aja), Marshall Heitkamp (Erin), Hannah Heitkamp (Alton), Lincoln Heitkamp, Justin Lieberherr, Zack Lieberherr (Katie), Paige Lieberherr, Ashley Julian (Will), Lauren Julian and Sidney Julian; and her nieces and nephews, Scott, Lisa, Jeff and Angela. She is also survived by 8 great-great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to the Dell Rapids Hospital Foundation, Dell Rapids St. Mary Catholic Church or the Dell Rapids Museum.

“My condolences to Mavis' family. Back in the 1980's Mavis gave me my start in libraries. She showed me how to provide great service to the community. I remember her picking books for specific patrons and walking the checked-out books down all the steps of the building to elderly people in their cars. Though she did have to scold me often for reading the books while I was supposed to be shelving them. She was great to work for and our community was lucky to have her in charge of our library.”
