He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Michelsen and Alma Michelsen (Matthiesen); his wife Joan Michelsen; his son-in-law Todd Schmuck; and his siblings-in-law, Lyle and Michiko Tofteland.
He is survived by: his daughters, Angela Swenson (Dave) of Sioux Falls and Stacey Hustoft (Bradley) of Luverne, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Christopher Vickery, Jamie Vickery (Amelia May), Brittany Van Der (Lance), Matthew Schmuck (Kali Korth), Monaya Hustoft, Zayna Hustoft (Marshall Taylor) and Jacinda Hustoft; his great grandchildren, Maddie Van Der Weerd, Karlie Van Der Weerd and Jackson Van Der Weerd; and his siblings, Phyllis Kelm of Garretson, Lloyd Michelsen (Judy) of Hamburg and Dallas Michelsen (Jean) of Bellevue, Nebraska..
