She was predeceased by: her parents, Lloyd Braun and Julia Braun (Van Hal); her in-laws, Robert and Lavona Schmidt; her stepfather Price Torgerson; her brother Scott; her stepbrother Phil Torgerson; and her sister-in-law Robyn Schmidt.

She is survived by: her husband Gary L. Schmidt of Madison Lake; her sons, Chad (Andrea) of Mankato and Matthew (Shelby Dawson) of Holmen, WI; her brothers, Bud Braun (Betty) of Lexington, KY, Barry Braun (Shirley) of Kasota and Craig Braun (Susanne) of Portland, OR; her siblings-in-law, Troy Schmidt (Melanie) of Rochester, MN, Sheila DeVos (Russ) of Farmington, MN and Sheryl Redding of Mankato; and her stepsiblings, Joan Pfeffer of Ames, IA and Ron Torgerson (Ruth Ann Torgerson) of Mankato. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Red Cross of Mankato or the All Saints Church Outdoor Flower Fund.
