He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence D. Harten and Hazel B. Harten of Mankato. He is survived by: his wife Marion; his children, Joseph E. Harten (Susan C. Harten) of Charlotte and Molly J. Harten of Alpharetta, Georgia; his grandchildren, Graeme Harten of San Francisco and Cartland Harten of Melbourne, Florida; and his sister Jeanne Dahl of Moraga, California..
