She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard Hornick and Verna Hornick (Penkert); her former husband Roland Kunz; her son-in-law Mark Birr; her brother Ronald Hornick (Cheryl); and her siblings-in-law, Leonard Kunz (Esther), Rosalia Krengel (John), Mildred Gerholz (Sylvan), Dorothy Bohlke (Warren) and Marcella Ulman.
She is survived by: her husband Mapleton; her children, Gary Kunz (Nancy), Linda Birr and Carol Lund (Curt); her grandchildren, Jenny Doering (Jason), Jamie VanderWeyst (Todd), Joni Heins (Brad), Crystal Kasmiskie (Justin), Joshua Kunz (Kelsey Ness), Arianne Steenblock (Ryan), Ben Birr (Jodi), Melissa Danks (Rob), Angela Andreen (Jason), Cassie Kohn (Kyle Halla), Amber Leonhardi (Brian), Heather Hedin (Rich) and Kayla Bissonette; her great grandchildren, Brandon, Brian (Jackie), Brock, Benaiah Doering, August, Ambrose, Asher, Adeline VanderWeyst, Kaleb, Ahna, Karsten Heins, Selah Kasmiskie, Juliet Langsjoen, Richard, Reimann, Lila Kunz, Annabelle, Wyatt Birr, Robert, Hannah Danks, Aiden, Emily, Zachary Andreen, AJ, Riley Kohn, Kailyn, Kenidy Halla, Lindsey Leonhardi, Katelyn and Jackson Hedin; her great great grandchildren, Brysen, Brantley, Bennett, Berkley Doering, Hudson, Maizy and Sawyer Doering; and her siblings-in-law, Viola Johnson and Kenneth Kunz. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. John Lutheran Church, Mapleton or the St. John Lutheran quilting group.
