With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Donald Burdette Friese of Marshall, Minnesota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 4, 2026 at the age of 92. He was predeceased by: his parents, Arie Friese and Florence Friese (Kasten); his sister Zelda Bergstalter (John); and his brother-in-law Donald Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Friese of Marshall; his children, Jeanette Gilles (Edward) of Sebring, FL, Greg Friese (Christy Hein) of Ward, SD and Kendall Friese (Tina) of Forest Lake; his grandchildren, Bryan Gilles of Anoka, Brenda Nielsen (Tyler) of Lonsdale, Joel Friese (Monica) of Plymouth, Tianna Larson (Layton) of Dayton and Michael Friese (Leah) of Sioux Falls, SD; his great grandchildren, Logan, Theo, Lux, Lincoln and Elsa; and his siblings, Charles "Chuck" Friese (Joan) of Slayton, Curt Friese (Cheryl) of Rock Lake and Yvonne Thompson of Willmar. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 8th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday, February 9th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Monday, February 9th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM and at 12:15 PM at the Victory Christian Church (1010 Lake Yankton Ave, Balaton, MN 56115). A burial was held on Monday, February 9th 2026 at 11:45 AM at the Lakeside Cemetery (1388 210th Ave, Balaton, MN 56115).
