He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Runholt and Hazel Runholt (Oftedahl); his wife Nancy Koch; and his sister Rose. He is survived by: his children, Kim Runholt (Carolyn) of Cottonwood, Kathy Johnson (Dave) of Cottonwood and Ellen Golberg (Greg) of Cottonwood; and his grandchildren, Jeremy Runholt, Cody Runholt (Ashley), Tanya Runholt (Tom Douglass), Brenton Johnson (Je Rae Freiborg), Tessa Johnson (Chad), Kendra Johnson, Derek Golberg (Macy), Torey Golberg (Jamie) and Kayla Kuyper (Levi).
