He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles, Sr. Svalen and Hilma Svalen (Enevold); his siblings, Stanley Svalen, Gladys Lindberg, Clarice Haugom, Irene Reins, Frank Svalen, Florence Svalen and Muriel; his nephews, Lyle Lindberg, Michael Reins and Craig Haugom; and his niece-in-law Terri Lindberg.
He is survived by: his brother Delano Svalen of Braddock, ND; his sister-in-law Janice Svalen of McIntosh; his cousin Elaine Mandt; and his nieces and nephews, Connie Reinhard (Arnie), Gary Lindberg, Cynthia Bly (Leslie), Gene Haugom (Mavis), Carol Reins, Sheila Kachur (Kevin), Mark Reins, Janet Holm (Levi), Joey Svalen (RaeAnn), Jason Svalen (Shannon), Tammy Svalen-Gimble (Kevin Kermes), Craig Svalen (Amy), Ryan Svalen (Andrea) and RueAnn Gallagher (Dennis). He is also survived by great great nieces and nephews and one great great great niece.
