He was predeceased by : his parents, Theodore Thompson and Rosetta Thompson; his wife Adella Thompson; his son Mark Thompson; his siblings, Gordon Thompson and Martha Nelson; and also, Russell Sylvester and Audrey Sylvester.

He is survived by : his daughters, Ann Vesledahl (Bob) of Erskine, MN, Naomi Hillgartner (Dennis) of Cedarburg, WI and Ruth Vetter (Wes) of Cherokee, IA; his daughter-in-law Karen Thompson (Mark) of McIntosh, MN; his sister-in-law LaMae Sylvester of Fargo, ND; and also Charles Sylvester of Fisher, MN. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 28th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church (145 S State St, McIntosh, MN 56556). A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 28th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The ALS Association, a cause close to Harald's heart after losing his son, Mark, in 2022.
