He was predeceased by: his mother Marie Thomes (Poepping); and his sister Lila Thomas (David). He is survived by: his wife Kathy Thomes of Melrose; his children, Kim Schwinghammer (Stewart) of St. Augusta, Keith Thomes (Tracy) of Alexandria and Kyle Thomes (Kathleen) of Meire Grove; his grandchildren, Ashley Briggs (Dylan), Honor-Ra Miller (Ryan), Dezerae Thomes, Isabel Schwinghammer and Gabriel Schwinghammer; his great grandchildren, Gavin and Mason Briggs; and his siblings, JoAnn Loecken (Jerry), Jerry Thomes (Gloria), Mary Kay Althaus (Ron), Karen Studer (Greg) and Brenda Blonigen (Dave).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Saint Mary's Catholic Church (755 E Kraft Dr, Melrose, MN 56352). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
