He was predeceased by : his parents, Arne John and Elizabeth Jane Rantanen (Kruger); his siblings, June Troskey and John Neil; his granddaughter Karli Hodgson; and his brother-in-law Lou Efta.

He is survived by : his wife Diane Hanson; his children, Melissa Jensen (Gayland) and Arne Rantanen (Randi); his grandchildren, Megan Johnsrud (Brandon), Sydney Hodgson, Wayde, Carter Jensen, Treyton Stomberg and Jax Rantanen; and his sisters, Mary Efta, Donna Westlund (Armand) and Jane Hirst (Jon). He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to either Trails to Treatments or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
