He is survived by: his mother Kay Etzel (Edwards); his wife Kelly McKenney-Bast; his children, Conrad Etzel (Amy) and Samantha Etzel; the mother of his children Sara Etzel; his stepchildren, Aaron Bast, Abbie Langman, Anna Ruschmeier, Andrew Bast, Adam Bast and Alan Bast; his brother Kent Etzel (Lori); and his sisters-in-law, Suzanne Etzel and Robyn Etzel-Carberry. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 6 nieces and nephews.
