She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlotte Lindley Wurtele and Valentine Wurtele; and her siblings, Ann Lawrence, Mary Vaughan and Angus Wurtele.
She is survived by: her husband William Theodore Chafee, II; her sister Joan Wurtele; her sister-in-law Margaret Wurtele; her sibling's children, Claire (Jennifer Marshall), Ted and Matt (Amy Larson); and her grandchildren, Simone Marshall-Chafee and Roan Chafee.
