He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Gipe and Helen Gipe. He is survived by: his wife Cindy; his sons, Nick Gipe and Aaron Gipe (Di Chapdelaine); and his brother Dan Gipe (Kim).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David's name to Mayo Clinic Cancer Research and Care Fund.
