He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed and Gladys; his sister Joan; and his pets, Sadie, Polly, Mazey and Dala.

He is survived by: his wife Sue; his children, Kim Rimpson (Lonnie) of Fridley, Kristin Johnson (Eric) of New Brighton and Kara Johnson (Dave) of Burnsville; and his grandchildren, Dexter, Sarah Rimpson Muhammed (Abdel), Annelise and Lena Johnson.
