It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Philip Hertsgaard (Minneapolis, Minnesota), born in Fargo, North Dakota, who passed away on October 4, 2025, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. As John Philip departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though John Philip may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy John Philip leaves behind.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Philip O. Hertsgaard and Harriet I. Hertsgaard (Owen). He is survived by: his brother David Hertsgaard of Los Angeles, CA.; his sister-in-law Nancy Oltvedt Campbell; his sibling's children, Sara Oltvedt (Dan Olson) and John Oltvedt; his great-nephew Camden; and his great-niece Nora.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Edina Chapel (5000 W 50th St, Edina, MN 55436). A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Lakewood Cemetery (3600 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55408).
Memorials can be given to a charity or cause of your choice, or to the American Cancer Society or the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).
