He was predeceased by: his son Richard Joel Merrill; and his parents, George Merrill and Edna Merrill (Hink). He is survived by: his wife Lois Merrill (Paulson); his children, Paul Merrill (Becky) and Maria Merrill; his grandsons, Austin Merrill (Colleen) and Connor Merrill (Mary); his great grandchildren, Payton, Kennedy and Shepherd; his sister JoAnn Espeland (Derald); his sisters-in-law, Alyce Merrill and Corene DeSmet (Rich); his siblings, Don, Glenn, Shirley, Bob and Beverly; Carol. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
