It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert David Benson (Minneapolis, Minnesota), who passed away on September 29, 2025, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Robert departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Robert. Though Robert may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his wife Marcia. He is survived by: his daughters, Leigh Welch (Fred) and Kris Petron (Santo); his granddaughters, Lora and Lilly Petron; and his great grandchild Ruthann.
A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 9:30 AM to 9:45 AM at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery (7601 34th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55450). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Community of Grace Lutheran Church (4000 Linden St, White Bear Lake, MN 55110). A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
