He was predeceased by: his parents, Eleanor Martonik and John Martonik; and his former wife Barbara Fitz. He is survived by: his wife Karen Martonik; his children, Susanne "Susie" Waskosky (Mark), Megan Manske (Brandon) and Andrew Smith (Mitikenesh); his grandchildren, Taylor Waskosky, Sierra Waskosky (Jessica), Ethan Smith, Judah Smith, Gabriella Smith and Ermias Smith; and his siblings, Mary Lou Kulander (Gene), Daniel Martonik (Helen) and Karen Martonik (Mike Bombyk). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 9:30 AM. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sunset Kapala Glodek Funeral Home (2250 St Anthony Blvd, Minneapolis, MN 55418). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church (2739 Stinson Blvd NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418). A committal service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 1:30 PM to 1:45 PM at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery (7601 34th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55450).
