He was predeceased by: his mother Linda Layer (Price); and his brother Charles. He is survived by: his father William Layer; his wife Nancy Scherping of Clear Lake; his children, Jackson Layer (Katherine) of Mandan, ND, Aspen Layer (Alex Vaa) of Plymouth, Sebastian Layer of Plymouth, Simeon Layer of Clear Lake and Magdalann Layer of Clear Lake; and his grandchild Kyrie.
