He was predeceased by : his parents, Will Schmidt and Ina Schmidt; his wife Sue Schmidt; and his brother Loren Schmidt. He is survived by : his son Mark Schmidt (Carlyn); his granddaughters, Teagan (Thomas Elliott) and Kennedy; his daughter Nancy Riebel (Greg); his grandsons, Tanner (Meghan) and Logan (Johanna); his daughter Karen DeLorenzo (Jim Lee); his pets, Carman and Daisy; his brother Ed Schmidt (Karen); and his siblings-in-law, Caryl Schmidt, Barb, Dave Verville, Jack and Marion Burch. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Memorials preferred to St. Martin's by the Lake Episcopal Church or the Gillespie Center.
