He is survived by: his wife June Karen Folkestad; his children, Sonja Peterson of Montevideo, Jon Peterson (Jana) of Moorhead and Leif Peterson (Lynette) of Dawson; his grandchildren, Perla Peterson Gasca (Raul), Katie Spicer (Dylan), Anna Esala (Micah), David Peterson (Rachel Williams), Lindee Nelson (Jesse) and Jessica Olson; his great grandchildren, Leonardo Rodriguez (Leo), Adriel Raul Gasca (Adry), Viktor Spicer and Broady Nelson; and his brother Jan-Erik Pettersson of Sweden. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
