He was predeceased by: his parents, Helmer Modderman and Rose Modderman (Van Dalen); his in-laws, William J. and Eleanor Hoekstra; his sister Gertrude Mouw; his son-in-law Robert Wagner; his siblings-in-law, Marvin VanVuuren, Robert Mouw, Marloe Kortgard, Charlene Sportel and Lois Hoekstra; and his nephew Adam Hoekstra.
He is survived by: his wife Verla Hoekstra; his children, Mike Modderman (Pam) of Fergus Falls, Deb Wagner of Delano and Kathy Kloeckner (James) of Fairmont; his grandchildren, Nick Modderman, Tyler Modderman (Chryseis), Cody Wagner, Jesse Wagner (Quaneisha), Ashley Webster (Justin) and Emily Larson (Riley) of Eau Claire, WI; his great grandchildren, MJ, Octavian and Ellea; and his siblings, Audrey Van Vuuren of Sioux Center, IA and Sandy Kortgard of Faribault, MN. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
