He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Retka and Florence Retka (Peterson); and his wife Janet Schoenbauer. He is survived by: his children, Maggi (Mike Morse), Carol (Dale Schneider), Luke (Alice Retka), Therese (Dave Russell), Rose (Brian Norvet), Henry Retka (Deena Anders), Peter (Jean Retka) and Sarah (Tim Rothstein); his siblings, Gene (Sharon Retka) and Sue (Will Schill); and his in-laws, Catherine Retka, LeAnne Retka, Ann, Lawrence Koenig and Doreen Schoenbauer. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Thomas Catholic Church (24613 St Thomas Rd, Le Sueur, MN 56058). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the St. Thomas Church Cemetery (24613 St Thomas Rd, Le Sueur, MN 56058).
