He was predeceased by: his parents, Eloise Schmalz (Franzmeier) and Loren Schmalz; and his brother Gary Schmalz. He is survived by: his daughter Hillary Schmalz (Jon Valdivia); his grandchild Holden; and his siblings, Jeffrey Schmalz (Andy), Michael Schmalz (Meg), Ruth Conoryea (Ross) and Naomi Schmalz. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other close relatives and many friends.
