He was predeceased by: his father Loren Wheelright; his stepparents, Ione Wheelright and Duane Hines; and his niece Whitney Wheelright. He is survived by: his mother Darlene Wheelright (Braton) of Barnesville, MN; his friend Mark Lillequist; and his siblings, Bruce Wheelright, Darrel Wheelright (Grace), Mary Wheelright (Craig LaBelle), Kevin Hines (Kim) and Tom Hines (Heidi). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
