He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph O. Axvig and Irene Axvig (Troftgruben); his grandfather John; his parents-in-law, Calmer and Clara Johnson; his sister Irma; his brother-in-law Lowell Hurtt; his siblings, Addie Kreklau and Earl; and his sister-in-law Marsha Axvig.
He is survived by: his grandsons, Cory and Adam; his wife Claudia; his sister Jolene; and his children, Randy Axvig (Susan), Lana Hillius (Jeff), Jason Theusch (Carla), Shana Young (Todd), Darrell Axvig (Samantha), Cory Axvig (Lindsay) and Adam Axvig (Amanda). He is also survived by grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
